Welds-Ebanks finishes fourth at Reno tourney
Danny Welds-Ebanks, of Baldwin High School and Central Maui Style Club, finished fourth in the 185-pound division for wrestlers 16 to 18 years old at the Reno Nationals meet in Nevada, April 12-14.
Welds-Ebanks earned All-America status with his finish and was the only wrestler from Maui to win a medal.
Other Central Maui Style Club members at the meet included: Landon Los Banos, who went 1-2 in the 6-under 46-pound class; Baldwin teammates Reggie Lo and Jahfrey Akina each went 2-2 in the 16-18 114-pound division; Slayden Lloyd went 1-2 in the 16-18 120-pound division; Tommy Stevenson was 7-2 in the 13-15 125-pound division, while Bryson Dela Cruz and Kanoa Morreira were both 0-2; Troy Waki was 3-2 in the 13-15 135-pound division; Leroy Santos was 2-2 in the 16-18 138-pound division; and Jayden Ferreira was 0-2 in the 13-15 160-pound division.
Hyundai golf raises $350,000 for charities
The Hyundai Tournament of Champions has raised nearly $350,000 for Hawaii charities, according to a news release.
The golf tournament was held in January at the Kapalua Resort's Plantation Course. The event had six designated beneficiaries, who helped promote the tournament and provided volunteers.
They were Boy Scouts of America, Maui County Council; Friends of the Children's Justice Center; Hale Makua Health Services; J. Walter Cameron Center; Ka Lima O Maui; and Lahainaluna High School Foundation.
The Hawaii State Junior Golf Association, Maui Junior Golf and the Golf for Maui Charities program also received money.
King Kekaulike seeks girls volleyball coach
King Kekaulike High School is seeking a girls varsity volleyball head coach.
Applications can be picked up at the main school office. King Kekaulike is located at 121 Kula Hwy, Pukalani, HI 96768.
The application deadline is at 4 p.m. on May 3.
Kihei AYSO to conduct registration on April 27
Kihei AYSO will hold its annual registration from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 27 at the Kihei Charter School in the Lipoa Center.
To participate in the fall season, children must be 4 years old by July 31. Proof of age (birth certificate, passport, or any other government issued identification) is required.
Children with special needs (physical or mental) are also encouraged to participate in Kihei AYSO's Very Important Players Program.

Jackpot finishing event to be held April 26-28
Shore Casters for Christ's fifth annual Jackpot Tournament will be held April 26-28.
Registration forms are available at New Maui Fishing Supply in Wailuku. The registration deadline is April 23.

50th anniversary drag racing event in May
The Valley Isle Timing Association will celebrate its 50th anniversary of the club's drag racing heritage in Hawaii from May 24-26.
The club will host the George "Flintstone" Andrade Memorial Day Race at the club's Maui Raceway Park track located in Puunene just off of Mokulele Highway.
