Attempted murder suspect found

LIHUE (AP) - Kauai police say a man accused of pushing a vacationing Japanese woman off a cliff has been arrested after four months as a fugitive.

A Sunday police statement says a tip led officers to Lydgate Beach Park, where 37-year-old Justin Wynn Klein was arrested peacefully Saturday.

Klein had eluded authorities since December, when witnesses reported that he pushed the 31-year-old woman from a cliff along a hiking trail on Kauai's north shore. The woman spent more than a week in the hospital - most of it in critical condition - before returning to her family in Japan.

Authorities combed the area for four days but couldn't find Klein, and many tips led nowhere until Saturday.

About two weeks after the incident a grand jury indicted Klein for second-degree attempted murder.
