UH baseball falls at Irvine

The University of Hawaii baseball team dropped its road opener in Big West Conference play, 4-1 to UC Irvine on Friday.

The Rainbows (7-19, 2-2 Big West) managed just three hits and did not score until Kaeo Aliviado drove in a run in the ninth.

Stephen Ventimilia and Austin Wobrock had the only other Hawaii hits in the game.

Connor Little (1-4)?pitched a complete game for Hawaii, allowing eight hits and one walk.

The Anteaters (18-8, 1-3) got 8 2/3 innings from Andrew Thurman (3-3), who struck out eight and faced just one batter over the minimum through one out in the ninth. Race Parmenter got the final out for his fifth save.

Chris Rabago and Connor Spencer each had two hits for the Anteaters.
