North Shore Challenge canceled due to surf
The Maui Canoe and Kayak Club's North Shore Challenge race set for today has been canceled due to the late season swell, a high-surf advisory and poor conditions at Maliko.
Baldwin alumnus wins PacWest weekly honor
Chaminade University's Kaitlyn Watanabe, a 2011 Baldwin High School graduate, was named the Pacific West Conference Pitcher of the Week for March 25-31.
Watanabe led the Silverswords to a 6-0 week with four wins in the circle.
She had three complete-game wins, one shutout and posted a 1.06 ERA in 26 1/3 innings. She struck out nine and allowed a .222 batting average.
Maui No Ka Oi soccer tourney set for June
The Maui No Ka Oi Soccer Tournament will be held June 19-22 at the Eddie Tam Fields in Makawao.
The registration deadline is June 1.
The tournament will have divisions for under-8 through under-19 teams with entry fees ranging from $400 to $550.
Checks should be payable to No Ka Oi Soccer Tournament and can be mailed to 1080 Mahanani Place, Makawao 96768.

Basketball Maui clinic moved to April 14
The Basketball Maui free clinic has been moved from Sunday to April 14 at the Erdman Athletic Center on the Seabury Hall campus.
The session for players 7-12 years old will run from 3-5 p.m., while the clinic for ages 13-18 will be from 7-9 p.m.
The clinic will feature Grayson "The Professor" Boucher of the And1 tours and tapes.
Players need to bring a basketball and a signed parental waiver. Parents and coaches are also welcome.

Maui Pop Warner will meet Wednesday
The Maui Pop Warner Association will be holding coaches testing for all divisions of football and cheer, on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Waikapu Community Center.
