The garage was reopened after being searched by police. A juice bottle containing dry ice exploded in the parking garage of the courthouse in Wailuku on Thursday afternoon, leading police to close off the garage for about an hour while a search was done, officials said. Maui police - some carrying assault rifles - responded to Hoapili Hale at 2145 Main St. and were positioned at entrances to the garage to keep people from entering. The officers included Special Response Team members in riot gear. Mark Santoki, communications officer for the state Judiciary, said police were called after a juice bottle containing dry ice exploded in the parking lot of the courthouse, creating a loud explosion at about 1:45 p.m. The search was concluded at about 2:50 p.m. and the garage was reopened. "During the time, the court operations were not disrupted," Santoki said.
