Dozens of Haiku families and friends attended a kids fair and community exchange Saturday morning at Haiku Elementary School. Hosted by the North Shore Church and Maui Food Bank, the free event offered a barbecue, games, face-painting and an inflatable bounce house. The community exchange, held on the fourth Saturday of every month inside the church, allows families to do one-to-one exchanges with children's clothing. "Our goal was to do ongoing events," said Pastor Kirk Friesen. "We had the community exchange for the parents, so we wanted to have something for the kids." In the future, Friesen hopes to hold the fair and community exchange together once every month.
