Recyclable and reusable household items will be collected from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Azeka Plaza.
Items to be collected include scrap metal, bicycles, appliances, beverage containers, cooking oil, cellphones, household batteries, vehicle batteries, laptop batteries, printer cartridges, newspaper, cardboard, telephone books, magazines, used eyeglasses, hearing aids, books, reusable paint, clothing and other household items.
The event also will offer shredding of confidential documents between 9 and 11 a.m.
Electronics, motor oil and other hazardous material will not be accepted. Electronic waste may be taken from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays to a site at 901 Lower Main St. in Wailuku.
The event is being held in partnership with Community Work Day Program, Hammerhead Metals, Maui Tow & Transport, Maui Disposal, Maui Friends of the Library, Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Maui, The Lions Club, Access Corp. paper shredding, Intrade Corp., Pacific Biodiesel and the County of Maui.
Those attending the event should enter from Uluniu Street behind Ace Hardware.
Participants also are encouraged to bring a nonperishable donation.
