Don’t let greedy people ruin natural resource

March 13, 2013
The Maui News

While visiting Maui for pleasure, I read that a hotel was requesting to have part of its beachfront be designated for guests only (The Maui News, Feb. 23).

My husband and I are from the Reno/Tahoe area, where there are few public beaches and a large fee is charged at every recreational site. Planners allowed homeowners and hotels to grab up the waterfronts.

Maui is enchanting with its numerous all-public beaches. I would hope that elected officials would not make the same mistakes as ours in Nevada and California by allowing greedy people to ruin this beautiful, natural resource of Maui.
