Rainbows permit season-high run total

March 4, 2013
The Maui News

The University of Hawaii baseball team set a season high for runs allowed Sunday in a 12-4 loss to host team Nevada-Las Vegas in the Rebel Classic.

UNLV (9-3) had a pair of five-run innings, and finished with 18 hits, also a season high for a Warriors opponent.

Conner George had three hits for UH (1-11), which had snapped a school-record losing streak on Saturday.

The Rebels' Kenny Oakley (2-0) pitched 6 2/3 score-less innings.

Mark Shannon was 3-for-3 and drove in two runs for UNLV. T.J. White hit a two-run triple and finished with three RBIs.

Rainbows starting pitcher Jon Flinn (0-1) got just one out while allowing five runs. Bryan Burgher pitched the last three innings and did not permit a run.

The teams are scheduled to play again today.
