Preparing for Santana’s return

February 28, 2013
The Maui News
Mike Welsh adjusts one of the lights at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Yokouchi Pavilion on Wednesday afternoon before it is raised to the roof. Welsh was helping to prepare for tonight’s Santana concert. Carlos Santana and his band are scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. Doors to the food concession area open at 4:30 p.m. and seating for the concert starts at 5:30 p.m. Santana played the first concert at the center’s outdoor venue, the A&B Amphitheater, 19 years ago, and it has been 15 years since his last appearance at the MACC. At least 5,000 people are expected to attend the show, which can really impact traffic in the area, said MACC officials. They advise concertgoers to come early.
