Felix places second in MPSF pole vault
Washington State freshman Kristine Felix, a Baldwin High School graduate, placed second in the pole vault at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation indoor track and field championships on Friday at the University of Washington's Dempsey Indoor Facility in Seattle.
Felix was one of nine competitors to clear 12 feet, 11 inches, but had the top finish among that group based on number of attempts.
UCLA's Allison Koressel won with a height of 13-5.

Sasada records hole-in-one at Dunes
Joy Sasada of Kahului had a hole-in-one Wednesday at The Dunes at Maui Lani.
Sasada aced the third hole, using a 7-iron for the 85-yard shot, which was witnessed by Brian Joachim.

Gibson aces No. 8 at Wailea Emerald course
Larry Gibson of Fall River, Nova Scotia, recorded a hole-in-one at the Wailea Emerald Course on Saturday.
Gibson used a pitching wedge to ace the 104-yard eighth hole. The shot was witnessed by Pat Gibson.

Two sessions set for learn-to-swim classes
Learn-to-swim classes, with instruction from veteran teacher Janet Renner, are scheduled for 6-7 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays in Kihei in two sessions - March 4-18, and March 20-April 3.
The fee for each session is $100, and space is limited.

Roller derby match slated for March 10
A roller derby match between the Maui Roller Girls and Oregon Trail Mix is scheduled for 4 p.m. on March 10 at CDF Engineering, at 400 Hana Highway in Kahului.
Tickets are $10 in advance at mauirollergirls.com, and $15 at the door. Admission is free for youths under 12, and for anyone with valid military or student identification.
