Updated: 6 p.m.

A flash flood warning has been extended for Maui until 9 p.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service said.

At about 5:30 p.m., radar continued to show heavy showers over windward slopes of Haleakala. The most intense rainfall is continuing over Makawao and Haiku areas.

Several roads have been closed including Brewer Road in Makawao and Kaupakalua Road in Haiku. There also have been reports of properties being flooded.

Areas covered by the warning include Pukalani, Pauwela, Paia, Nahiku, Hana and Kahului.

A flash flood warning means flash flooding is imminent or occurring in streams and roads.
