The University of Hawaii baseball team's ninth-inning rally fell short in a 5-4 loss to Oregon on Saturday at Les Murakami Stadium in Honolulu.
Trevor Podratz's run-scoring groundout got the Rainbows (0-2) within a run in the bottom of the ninth and moved Marc Flores to third base, but Kaeo Aliviado was retired on a fly ball to left field to end the game.
Ryon Healy had three doubles for the Ducks (2-0), No. 6 in the USA Today coaches poll.
Tommy Thorpe (1-0) allowed one run in five innings.
Quinte Torres-Costa (0-1) permitted five runs, failing to get out of the fifth inning.
The teams continue their four-game series today.
