THIRD PHOTO: Maui Nui Marine Resource Council volunteer Marge Bonar helps set up an informational display at Whale Day on Saturday. The pile of plastic ocean debris on display was easy to find. It was gathered Friday in five minutes on a small section of a Waiehu beach. Bonar said that as bad as the plastic objects are, she is more worried about when they they break down into smaller floating bits to become even more deadly to fish and marine wildlife.
