For those of you who are too young to remember Jim Jones and the Jonestown massacre in the late 1970s, let me give you a little American history lesson.
Jones operated a church in the Bay Area called The People's Temple that encouraged church members to turn over all their property and money to the church and move with him to a commune in South America.
When U.S. authorities confirmed alleged abuses by Jones, the investigators were assassinated before they could fly back to the U.S. with their report.
This is where the story gets interesting. A shaken Jones ordered all his followers to drink Kool-Aid laced with cyanide, thus committing mass suicide. Those who refused were murdered by Jones and his henchmen.
This is the background source of the saying that a person has "drank the Obama Kool-Aid," meaning that the person is following blindly the president and his administration policies without question, despite the consequences.
We have a lame-duck president who has decided that he is above the law when it comes to gay marriage, women serving in combat, gun control and terrorism, just to name a few of his executive decrees.
Of course here in Hawaii, a one-party socialist state, Obama is seen as a new-world-order messiah, with his followers not only lining up to drink the "Obama Kool-Aid" themselves, but trying to force the rest of us to drink it too.
