After reading the Feb. 2 Viewpoint decrying the elimination of much-needed parking in Wailuku town to place a "vest pocket" park, I'd like to propose a simple design solution: A two- or three-story small parking garage set into the natural slope of the existing area with a "green roof," which would have both additional parking - which is sorely needed - and a nice little park on top.
Green roof parks are used in urban areas all over the Mainland and the rest of the world. Environmental design is the solution to both problems.
