Making his way back home

February 9, 2013
The Maui News
Bolly Helekahi fills up his gas tank at Ching Store in Keokea before making the run around the “backside” of the island to his home in Koali on Tuesday morning. He said stopping at Ching Store is a tradition. “To me, it’s the cheapest gas on the way, and it’s the easiest too,” Helekahi said. “Better than paying $5.60 in Hana.” Helekahi is a master coconut-frond weaver, who has shared his craft and his aloha with people from around the world while selling his handmade baskets along Hana Highway near his home.
