It's wonderful that the governor is looking to improve the preschool education opportunities in our state, but don't you think he should focus first on improving the school system that we have now?
Focus on finalizing a contract with our teachers that will not only attract high-quality educators but will also keep them. Teachers, to me, are some of the most important professionals because they play such an important role in developing the future of our communities. They are sorely underpaid and underappreciated in our state.
Gov. Neil Abercrombie should quit trying to come up with a program that will be his "legacy" and give our teachers their due. The winners will be our kids and our state's future.
