Gas price lower than HI average

The price of a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline in Wailuku is $4.08, unchanged from last week, the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch said Thursday. The price is 7 cents higher than last month but 32 cents lower than a year ago.

The Wailuku price is lower than Hilo's and only 2 cents higher than Oahu's. The average price of a gallon of unleaded in Hilo was $4.13, 4 cents more than last week and 14 cents more than last month.

Honolulu's average price had a 3-cent bump up from last week to $4.06 a gallon, up 14 cents from last month and up 9 cents from a year ago.

The statewide average for a gallon of unleaded gasoline rose 3 cents from last week to $4.11 per gallon. That's 13 cents more than last month.

AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch is a weekly snapshot of gas prices. Prices are derived from fleet vehicle credit card transactions at more than 100,000 stations around the country and are the combined averages of last card swipe of previous day.
