We have the privilege of living in a great country where we pay our taxes and when we reach a certain age, they begin giving it back to us via Social Security and health care known as Medicare.
Some of it comes back annually through tax refunds.
If we live long enough, we may get back more than we gave. That is a problem facing our great nation today. We are living longer so we have to pay for that longevity.
The more you give, the more you get back.
If Republicans do not tax the rich to keep this wonderful retirement program intact they may take a presidential shellacking again in 2016.
Sen. Mazie Hirono has the right idea - just keep people paying into the Social Security Trust Fund no matter how much they earn.
This will keep those Social Security checks coming until 2075.
