Warriors defeat Bears; top of standings tighten

The Kamehameha Schools Maui girls soccer team defeated Baldwin 4-2 on Tuesday at War Memorial Stadium in Wailuku, further tightening the top of the Maui Interscholastic League Division I standings.

The Warriors won their sixth straight game and improved to 9-2-0 heading into a match on Friday at Kanaiaupuni Stadium against King Kekaulike, which is tied for first place with with Baldwin (9-2-1), a point in front of Kamehameha.

Goal scorers were not available.

* KING KEKAULIKE GIRLS 7, ST. ANTHONY 0: At Pukalani, Mahina Ashdown-Deponte scored three goals for King Kekaulike.

Ashdown-Deponte scored unassisted in the fourth minute, off a Nikki Musto corner kick in the 49th and in the 60th off a free kick by Kisa Giebink. Musto scored for Na Alii (9-1-1) in the 36th minute, Tiara Arakawa scored in the 46th with an assist from Kayela Santiago, Tiare Matsuura scored unassisted in the 54th and Reiley Bridge added a goal in the 79th, with an assist from Anna Gragas.

St. Anthony is 0-11-1.

* BALDWIN BOYS 3, KAMEHAMEHA MAUI 0: At Wailuku, Nick Lawrence scored twice and had an assist for Baldwin (8-2-0), which claimed sole possession of second place.

Lawrence scored in the 33rd and 63rd minutes, and assisted on Zach Coloma-Mariano's goal in the 23rd.

Ryan Feliciano assisted on Lawrence's first goal, and Jaren Otani on the second.

Kamehameha Maui fell to 7-2-0.

* KING KEKAULIKE BOYS 6, ST. ANTHONY 1: At Pukalani, King Kekaulike remained unbeaten and atop the D-I standings.

Na Alii improved to 8-0-2, while St. Anthony dropped to 0-10-0.
