J.J. Henry has been wearing a hat embroidered with the letters "SHES," for Sandy Hook Elementary School, during the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
Henry grew up in Fairfield, Conn., approximately 20 miles from the school where a shooting last month took the lives of 26 children and educators.
"At the first event of the year, I just wanted to do something to honor the families and lost ones," said Henry, who qualified for the field at the Kapalua Plantation Course for the second time by winning last year's Reno-Tahoe Open. "I just wanted them to know that the entire PGA Tour family, whether it's players, officials, media or fans, that we're all thinking about them in this unthinkable time."

Let's play two (rounds)
Waiting at least two extra days for the season to begin while severe weather causes delays can cause players some uneasiness.
"It's unfortunate," said Carl Pettersson. "I mean, this is crazy not being able to start. Hopefully we can get at least 54 holes in and make this thing official."

The schedule calls for 36 holes today, and the final 18 on Monday.
"It would've been nice to play today, but it's Mother Nature," said John Huh. "You can't do anything about it."
Although play was canceled at around 10:30 a.m., Brandt Snedeker said he would take it easy during his time off due to the physical challenge the Plantation Course poses.
"I'm going to hop down to Lahaina a bit, but you want to stay as fresh as possible," Snedeker said. "Thirty-six holes around this golf course is a lot of tough walking, so you want to make sure you're well-rested. You have all this time to kill, but it's a double-edged sword."
