UH swept by BYU in season opener

The University of Hawaii men's volleyball team lost 25-18, 25-22, 25-17 to Brig-ham Young on Friday in Provo, Utah, in the season opener for both Mountain Pacific?Sports Federation teams.

Taylor Sander had 14 kills and Ryan Boyce had 27 assists for the Cougars, ranked No. 2 in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

Jace Olsen had 10 kills but a negative hitting percentage for the Warriors, who hit just .101 as a team, with 31 kills and 23 errors. J.P.?Marks added seven kills. Max Wechsung had 22 assists, and Joby Ramos added nine.
