Various websites have stats on the percentage of our population ages 18 to 25 who suffer from some form of mental illness. Looks like the average is 7.5 percent. Most of our mass killings were done by this age group. This is a significant percentage of our youth.
What is also significant is that Hawaii laws prohibit the ownership/use of less-than-lethal devices such as stun guns and Tasers for home defense but do allow the ownership of handguns and semiautomatic rifles. So, it sounds like our lawmakers want us to kill intruders rather than deter/wound them.
The best home defense weapon legal here that I have found is the Taurus revolver, which uses 14 gauge birdshot. It will not kill but it definitely will deter.
Hawaii lawmakers, apparently unfamiliar with weapons or military experience, need to familiarize themselves with all the alternatives of home defense.
Less-than-lethal weapons should be readily available to anyone legally eligible to buy a gun. Can anyone argue with that?
When will our lawmakers agree?
