Hawaiian Telcom spreads holiday cheer with successful toy drive

December 23, 2012
The Maui News

Hawaiian Telcom employees on Maui coordinated a toy drive for Friends of the Children's Justice Center of Maui. Nearly 100 toys and gift cards were delivered to the center Nov. 13.

Paul Tonnessen, executive director of the Friends of the Children's Justice Center of Maui, said, "It is through the kindness extended by Hawaiian Telcom employees that we were able to bring smiles to 100 abused or neglected children in Maui County this holiday. They have truly showed all of us the true meaning of giving with their generous donation. There are over 1,600 abused or neglected children in Maui County alone, and these gifts will help take the stress off the families and social service agencies during this holiday season."

Tony Pruett, island manager, said, "This is just one of the small ways the employees of Hawaiian Telcom can give back to the community. We have very compassionate employees working here on Maui, and many of the people we help are our own ohana."
