HONOLULU - A developer plans to build a luxury high-rise condominium hotel in Waikiki that will be branded and managed by The Ritz-Carlton.
PACREP LLC said Thursday that construction will begin late next year and finish in 2016.
New York-based Guerin Glass Architects designed the 37-story tower to be built at the corner of Kuhio Avenue and Kalaimoku Street.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports that the company needs a permit and a City Council resolution allowing the tower to rise 350 feet, or 50 feet higher than the standard limit for the site.
The development will be called The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikiki Beach.
