Mayor Alan Arakawa presented a $500 cash prize and certificate to Mariah DeLong-Wright, a sophomore at Kaahumanu Hou Christian School in Kahului, for her winning essay on the U.S. Constitution. DeLong-Wright's essay, "Breath of Freedom," was entered in the 2012 James Madison In Pursuit of Knowledge contest.
The mayor offered his congratulations to DeLong-Wright during a school assembly of about 100 students, parents and faculty.
