Foundation offers grants for donations to Book Trust

December 19, 2012
The Maui News

This holiday season, lovers of books have the opportunity to make their dollars go twice as far while supporting book ownership for keiki on Maui, Molokai and Lanai. During December, all donations made to Book Trust Maui County will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $20,000 by the Makana Aloha Foundation.

"The Makana Aloha Foundation is committed to enhancing the education of students on Maui. Partnering with Book Trust was an obvious choice, and we are excited to support their mission to give students the opportunity to choose and own their own books, increasing their literacy skills and fostering lifelong learning," said Jami Burks, president of the Makana Aloha Foundation. "We hope this match will encourage others to join us in supporting the keiki on Maui through this amazing organization."

Book Trust serves students in every public elementary school in Maui County by funding books distributed by Scholastic. For more information, visit the website at www.booktrust.org.
