U.S. airlines should be buying U.S. made planes

December 17, 2012
The Maui News

I mentioned in a Dec. 16 letter that everyone seemed to be thrilled about the Airbus 380 that landed in Honolulu, but I wanted to make a point.

Voters in Hawaii complained that things were being outsourced to other countries and yet Hawaiian Airlines bought a number of Airbuses for its fleet, which were manufactured in Europe. Is that not outsourcing to some degree?

In fact, we have been surprised and disappointed that airlines in our country buy from a foreign country rather than from our own manufacturers here in the good old USA. Our quality can be as good as any country, we have proved than over and over. Let's start by supporting our own country and putting people back to work.
