Lahaina man faces felony abuse charge
WAILUKU - A 48-year-old Lahaina man was being held on $5,000 bail at the Wailuku Police Station on Thursday morning for allegedly choking his live-in girlfriend, police said.
Kirby Lott was charged with felony abuse, records show.
After the incident, the 35-year-old woman felt dizzy and had pain to her face, which included her left cheek and left ear, according to police. She was taken to Maui Memorial Medical Center for evaluation, police said.
The incident took place shortly after midnight Thursday after the couple got into an argument.
Police said that the man slapped the victim and punched her face and chest area. He then grabbed her neck with both hands and choked her for 20 to 30 seconds and then let go.
The man then left the room but when he heard police sirens, he went back into the room and grabbed the victim by the neck and shook her saying, "Look at what you did," according to police.
The man was later arrested at the home.

Police say man, 47, tried to knee officer
WAILUKU - A 47-year-old Kula man was being held on $5,000 bail at the Wailuku Police Station on Thursday morning after he tried to knee an officer in the head and was found with marijuana, police said.
Kevin S. Page was charged with first-degree assault of a police officer, third-degree promotion of a detrimental drug and resisting arrest, police records show.
Police said that the incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday as police responded to a disorderly conduct call at the top of Waipoli Road with a man being highly intoxicated.
Police said the man was found with marijuana and when police took it away from him he tried to knee an officer in the head and resisted arrest.
The officer was not hurt, police said.

Wailuku gas prices continue to decline
The cost of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline hovered near $4 in Wailuku on Thursday, according to the AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch.
Wailuku's average for the week was $4.03 a gallon, 12 cents less than last week, 27 cents less than last month and 36 cents lower than last year.
The state average for regular unleaded declined by 2 cents during the week to $4.01 per gallon, which was 18 cents less than last month and 5 cents lower than last year.
Honolulu's average price dropped to $3.93 a gallon for regular unleaded, 2 cents less than last week and 19 cents less than last month. In Hilo, the average gas price slipped below $4 to $3.93 per gallon, down 9 cents from last week and 23 cents less than last month.
AAA Hawaii Weekend Gas Watch is a weekly snapshot of gas prices. Prices are derived from fleet vehicle credit card transactions at more than 100,000 stations around the country and are combined averages of the last card swipes of the previous day.

Crews aid woman lost on Waihou trail
Fire crews were able to locate an 85-year-old woman Wednesday night after she got disoriented and couldn't find her way back while she was walking her dog on the Waihou Spring Trail just above Olinda Road on Wednesday afternoon, fire officials said.
The woman was reported missing at 4:40 p.m. and was found around 7 p.m. in good condition. She did not need medical attention, fire officials said.
The fire department's Air One helicopter along with the Kahului rescue crew conducted an air search while the Makawao fire crew conducted a ground search for the woman.
