Beachfest scheduled for Jan. 12 at Paia Bay
The Paia Youth and Cultural Center's Paia Bay Beachfest is scheduled for Jan. 12, with registration beginning at 7 a.m. and the first heats in the bodyboarding and surfing competition to start at 8 a.m.
The entry fee is $20, which also pays for lunch, a shirt and eligibility for prizes. Competition will take place in menehune (ages 9-14), junior male (15-17), women (all ages), men (all ages), drop knee (all ages), and free surfing (all ages).

Volunteers sought for PGA Tour event
Volunteers are sought to work Jan. 3-7 at The Plantation Course in Kapalua during the PGA Tour's Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
Depending on how many shifts are worked, volunteers can receive shirts, weekly passes to the event and golf at the Bay Course.
