* Levy Oktalia has been named controller for Molokai Ranch.

She will be responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations and human resources on Oahu and Molokai. She will replace Elaine Hammond, who is retiring at the end of the year.

Oktalia previously served as property manager at Douglas Emmett. She holds a bachelor's degree in finance and banking from San Francisco State University.

Molokai Ranch is the state's second-largest ranch, spanning 54,000 acres. The company earlier this year announced plans to reintroduce its cattle operations and launch a new piggery. The ranch said it also plans to pursue sustainable farming and renewable energy initiatives as well as revitalizing existing assets including the Maunaloa Lodge and Kaluakoi Resort Hotel & Golf Course.

* Douglas Lefler has been named vice president of Maui operations for Certified Hawaii.

He will oversee day-to-day operations for more than 50 Maui properties. Lefler previously was with Destination Maui and Naia Properties. He also is a licensed Realtor on Maui.

* Linda McLain of Wailuku has completed The National Association of Legal Assistants' certified paralegal examination, allowing her to use the CLA or CP professional credential.

McLain is one of seven paralegals in Hawaii to attain the certification.

The exam is a voluntary credential program that covers such topics as communications, legal research, ethics, interviewing techniques and legal terminology.
