Dangers of lifted trucks are due to bad drivers

December 4, 2012
The Maui News

Even for lifted trucks there are good drivers and bad drivers.

Most of us are good, responsible drivers. We know that having a lift changes how we have to drive to be safe. We know lifts increase the chance of rollover, which is why we slow down more when making turns.

It is not fair to say all lifted vehicles are more dangerous. Some are, but that is solely due to the actions of the driver.

Why don't we look at how many car accidents are caused by lifted vehicles compared to stock ones? I bet there are far fewer accidents caused by lifted ones since there are fewer lifted vehicles in general.

Furthermore, it is common knowledge that speed is the largest factor when regarding fatal car accidents. If the main concern is against vehicle height and headlight placement, why are huge vehicles like buses, semi trucks, etc., allowed on the road?
