A workshop on the cost of charging an electric vehicle will be presented from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday by the Maui Electric Vehicle Alliance in the University of Hawaii Maui College Laulima 225.
Jim Burness, a Colorado-based charging expert, will speak at the event. He is a veteran of the automotive and renewable energy industries and has served as an executive at solar finance and installation companies. Burness is currently director of business development for ClearEnergy, a distributor of solar and electric vehicle charging equipment, a news release about the event said.
Property owners planning to install a charging station need to factor in the cost of installation, equipment and electricity tariff and usage, the news release said. On Maui, there are three levels of charging accesses, four kinds of highway-ready plug-in vehicles and five kinds of charging station manufacturers or networks.
The talk is free and is part of the Maui EVA Talk Story series. Those attending need to RSVP at www.surveygizmo.com/s3/1103494/maui-eva-talk-story.
