MIL drops all three games

Wahine Classic

Seabury Hall, the defending Maui Interscholastic League Division II girls basketball champion, lost 34-16 to Kalaheo on Thursday in the opening game of the Wahine Classic at Erdman Athletic Center in Olinda.

Gabby Clark scored seven points for the Mustangs, and Tara Takata added six.

Tiana Camarillo, last year's MIL D-II player of the year, scored seven for the Spartans, who were held to six points over the middle two quarters.

* HAWAII BAPTIST 26, BALDWIN 24: Torie Miyoi scored eight points for Hawaii Baptist, a D-II state quarterfinalist last season.

The Eagles advanced to the semifinals despite making no field goals and scoring two points in the fourth quarter.

Karissa Kalehuawehe hit two 3-pointers for Baldwin and finished with eight points.

The Bears did not score until the second quarter.

* HANALANI 61, KA-MEHAMEHA MAUI 37: Sarah Liva scored 29 points for Hanalani.

Liva, an all-state-tournament selection last season as the Royals placed fifth in D-II, scored 10 points in the first quarter, which ended with Hanalani in front 16-3. The Royals' Catherine Armstrong scored 11 points, all in the final three quarters.

Tatiana Medeiros scored 12 for Kamehameha Maui. Jayden Almeida and Ashley Tanoue-Singson each had eight.

* KAPOLEI 51, PUNAHOU II 38: Kapolei got 14 points from Chermayne Yago, Amayha Dycus added 11 and Anna Souza had 10.

Juliet Von Rohr scored 16 points for Punahou, and Melissa Nakamoto had eight.
