Unions cause of hardship for employees, employers

November 30, 2012
The Maui News

It's time we start sending the unions down the road. They have worn out their usefulness.

At one time they were needed, but nowadays they only cause unwanted expenses and hardship for employers and the employees and have turned into Mafia groups leading the sheep.

Take, for example, the Hostess fiasco with 18,000 employees. Yes, that's 18,000 now out of work because the union wouldn't compromise when the company filed for bankruptcy and asked for a pay reduction and for the employees to pay just a little bit more for benefits. Well, the union won and now 18,000 people are on the unemployment line. Or should I say sheep out of work?

Folks, we need to start telling the unions enough is enough and we want to run our own lives and stop all the ridiculous rules that just cost employees - like on the Hostess line one person can't load Ho Hos because he can only load Wonder Bread. How stupid is that? So you can have all the unions you like but when the company lays off all its employees, just who wins?
