‘Understanding Dementia Behaviors’ topic of two separate presentations

Two free caregiver workshops titled "Understanding Dementia Behaviors" will be held in December.

The first workshop will take place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Dec. 5 at the West Maui Senior Center, 788 Pauoa St. in Lahaina.

The second workshop will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Dec. 8 at the Elima Community Hall, 11 Mahaolu St. in Kahului.

Kathleen Couch, caregiver/program coordinator for Maui Adult Day Care Centers, will discuss early-, middle-, and late-stage dementia behaviors; tips and techniques for working with dementia and caregiver survival.

Light breakfast items will be provided free for attendees at the Kahului workshop.

Maui Adult Day Care Centers and the Maui County Office on Aging are holding the workshops, which are open to the public.

No reservations are needed. There will be certificates of attendance for professionals.

Day care service can be provided for adults during the workshop by calling in advance to make arrangements.
