I read the Nov. 21 article about the police check "Operation Recon." I found it interesting that this police check was due to letters to the editor.
I wonder if the police are now going to design an "Operation Check-In" due to the letters that have been and will continue to be written regarding the disparity between the law of the land and the aloha spirit. There appears to be a major infection infiltrating Maui. Recently, I witnessed a little family dash across the street in Kihei for fear of getting hit by a car. Attitudes are flying east and west as tides seem to be crashing together taking our beloved mana and aina with it.
Shall we all remember in this present moment the love we have for one another and this sacred land. Each of us is a cell body, more or less, on this little planet called Maui. The question is: Are you an enzyme (powerful and loving to the whole body) or part of the cancer (ugly, mean, rude, impatient, following orders for someone else's bidding and the almighty dollar)? You get the point.
This place is only so big and it seems we are currently involved in at a subtle war. I really do hope that the police chief decides to create this Operation Check-In from these letters. Imagine, us being pulled aside to be harassed as to whether or not we are part of the healing or the destruction of Maui.
