Power to Maui Electric Co. customers in Wailea and parts of Kihei was restored Saturday afternoon.
A notice had been posted on Maui County's website reporting that approximately 10,000 customers in South Maui had lost power at 11:45 a.m. According to a release from a MECO official, power was restored at 12:15 p.m. to about 8,000 customers and remaining customers were brought back on line at 1:30 p.m.
The cause of the outage remained under investigation.
