What makes our Hawaiian beaches so beautiful? Is it the water? The coral? Or the beautiful endemic Hawaiian creatures that lure in the water?
The most common reason tourists come to Hawaii is because of the native species that are here. The honu is one of the most endangered species in the state. It is one that needs to be preserved.
The Endangered Species Act protects the honu and other native species. I am glad that this act was passed.
The local fisheries are ridiculously setting out 60 miles of fishing line set with 1,000 baited hooks, and it is killing all the endangered species. The fisheries are definitely going over their limit of accidentally catching endangered species. They should really cut their fishing line in half and put it in other places where they could still catch fish but it wouldn't be a threat to the native species. I understand that they would be a threat pretty much anywhere, but maybe in the places that aren't common for endangered species to be.
