Everyone keeps bashing Hawaiian Commercial & Sugar Co. about sugar cane burning. I personally would not want anyone losing their jobs.
I do recognize that HC&S is trying different methods. I noticed that the company has harvested cane by cutting. I like it that it leaves the other cuttings that are not useful on the ground. By doing that, it keeps all the dust down.
Maybe HC&S could be doing more cutting instead of burning or maybe 70 percent cutting and 30 percent burning. It's just a suggestion.
For all of you who grumble, you are blind to not even notice that the company is trying something different. We should not be fast to argue. Let's come up with more solutions. We all live on a small island, we need to work together to keep the peace.
Let's live aloha.
