Stop using park containers to dump home rubbish

November 20, 2012
The Maui News

I am a volunteer who works with South Maui Kihei Parks and Recreation Department in preserving our open-space native species wilderness area. Lately I've noticed an abundance of home rubbish being dumped into our park rubbish cans by people who are too lazy to take their waste to our various recycle drop-offs.

This latest incident pertains to Kalepolepo Park, next to the Maui Lu. Someone left a large kitty litter plastic container, plastic hydrogen peroxide bottles, rubbing alcohol bottles and an assortment of other debris that took up space in our recycle container for bottles and cans that our beach and park guests utilize. Shame!
