Foodland Super Market Ltd. and the Western Union Foundation have announced that as part of the Hurricane Sandy Relief program, they will match customer donations made at checkout to support disaster relief efforts.
Customers are invited to make a $5, $10 or $20 donation at any Foodland or Sack 'n Save checkout through Nov. 30. The donation amount will be added to the customer's grocery purchase. At the end of the program, Foodland and the Western Union Foundation will match customer donations and send the combined donation to the American Red Cross to support Hurricane Sandy disaster relief efforts.
"During times of crisis, our customers always ask if we are going to do something to help those in need because they want to help too," said Jenai Wall, Foodland chairman and CEO. "We are pleased to support the generosity of our customers and make it easy for them to give by working with the Western Union Foundation to double customer donations, up to a total matching gift of $100,000. Together, we can share our aloha with those affected by Hurricane Sandy."
