The Maui Economic Development Board is sponsoring workshops Friday and Saturday so Molokai businesses can learn how to use social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to bring in more customers.
Social media use is at an all-time high, and businesses frequently use the sites for marketing events or sales, according to an announcement.
"If you're new to social media, or just getting your feet wet, or starting to think about an overall social media strategy for your business but don't know where to start putting all the pieces together, or just confused, this workshop is for you," said project assistant Jody Yoshida.
The economic development board's program, High Tech Maui, will guide the workshops at the University of Hawaii Maui College-Molokai Education Center, Room 107.
The first meeting, called Social Media Boot Camp, runs from noon to 6 p.m. Friday for $65. The second, Social Media 201, is Saturday. It's scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon. and costs $35.
Social media consultant Peter Liu, who has more than 30 years experience in the computer industry, will not only will give entrepreneurs ideas about how to improve their bottom line but also educate them about the overall new online landscape, its ever-changing developments and future direction.
Snacks and drinks will be provided.
