County licensing satellite offices to close
The county Division of Motor Vehicle & Licensing will close its satellite offices on Nov. 20 to conduct staff training, according to a county announcement.
The closure affects offices in Hana, Kihei, Lahaina, Lanai City, Molokai and Pukalani. All offices will resume regular customer service hours on Nov. 21.
The Kahului Service Center at the Maui Mall will remain open on Nov. 20.

UH nets grant for expanding ag skill sets
The University of Hawaii has received a $49,970 grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Development Program to help conduct a feasibility study for the University of Hawaii Maui College's Food Innovation Center.
The funding to support the center is "really a support for the development of sustainable agriculture, ranching and small business on Maui," said USDA Rural Development State Director Chris Kanazawa. "Building capacity and expanding skill sets in farmers, ranchers and entrepreneurs are the fundamental building blocks necessary for successful businesses."

Construction work to impact traffic flow
The state Department of Transportation has announced highways affected by construction work in Maui County this week.
Those include:
* Hana Highway; a single-lane closure in the westbound direction between Milepost 10.4 in the vicinity of the Garden of Eden and Milepost 16 in the vicinity of Keanae Peninsula Road, from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, for road maintenance.
* Honoapiilani Highway; the highway's lanes will remain shifted to the mauka side of the road between Front Street and Kai Hele Ku Street fronting Launiupoko State Park until repairs can be made to an undermined portion of the road caused by ocean erosion.
* Kula Highway; alternating lane closures from Haleakala Highway to Naalae Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday through Friday for pavement resurfacing.
* Maalaea Harbor Road; closed from Honoapiilani Highway to Hauoli Road through the end of this month for construction of waterlines, sewer lines and a water treatment facility.
