Chaminade junior Shannon Whener, a Maui High School graduate, competes in the NCAA Division II West Regional cross country championships Saturday at Kahuku Golf Course on Oahu. Whener finished 163rd, covering the 6-kilometer course in 27 minutes, 55.35 seconds, as the Silverswords placed 24th in the team competition. Alaska-Anchorage’s Susan Tanui won the race in 21:18.50. Chico State took the men’s and women’s team titles.
