Why are dangerous lifted trucks allowed on road?

November 4, 2012
The Maui News

Let me demonstrate how our County Council wastes $238 million of our dollars.

We have more than 119,000 cars on Maui. They have around 3,200 accidents yearly, with more than 900 people injured or killed.

Each car has more than $2,000 in safety equipment.

Yet all your car's safety features are defeated if you're hit by a super-lifted pickup truck, permitted on our roads by our council. What good would air bags do when a lifted truck's bumper enters your compartment at above your head height? Not even a circus would allow such a deadly toy in the ring.

Please ask your favorite incumbent why your lives are being risked and your safety dollars wasted for something even self-respecting clowns shun?
