Lingle’s claims to be bipartisan are nonsense

November 3, 2012
The Maui News

Linda Lingle is getting desperate. I received a flier saying she is endorsed by The Maui News, and quoting "an article" in The Maui News. Actually the quote is from the Oct. 11 editorial supporting her. What else is new?

The Maui News long ago lost any journalistic credibility it once had under a different publisher. When it was published by the Cameron family and Nora Cooper was editor, it was a very good small-town newspaper. Now it is merely a voice for the Tea Party and the Republican agenda.

Lingle's claims to be bipartisan are nonsense. Anyone who has watched politics during her tenure as mayor and as governor knows that. If elected, she would act for her own advancement within the Republican Party - meaning she would support the far right that has taken over that party.

When she celebrated the nomination of Sarah Palin in 2008, she claimed to know her well and that Sarah was a wonderful choice. John McCain made a serious mistake putting someone like Palin a heartbeat away from the presidency. But Linda supported her fully.

Now she is claiming it would be good for Hawaii to have a senator from each party. Does anyone believe she would say that if the other senator was a Republican?

I am really fed up with Mitt Romney's lies and flip-flops. Linda will flip-flop in a minute if she is elected.

Vote for Mazie Hirono.
