When you vote, you are voting for your future. Is that future to be living in a plutocracy where all but the super-rich will lose ground or do you want to try to get back to the days of a majority middle class?
You have one of the clearest choices this year you probably have ever had. You have a 1-percenter from the same party that enabled the megabanks and Wall Street gamblers to drive our economy down to the edge of a depression. And you have someone more like you with your interests at heart who would have been able to get the economy back on track much faster if that party of the plutocrats hadn't obstructed him with filibusters and other tactics at every turn, admitting in advance that was its chief goal.
During the past four years, the majority Democrats in the Senate have had enough votes to end the filibusters and end gridlock for only two short months. The House is controlled by the Tea Partyers who openly oppose any compromise.
So why would you want to send another Republican to join that mindset in the House? Far more importantly, why would you want to maintain gridlock by filibuster, including blockage of all efforts to create jobs and speed revival of the economy?
Whatever their sins and virtues, Hawaii's candidates for national office are important for your sake and for the nation. Vote Mazie Hirono and Tulsi Gabbard to help restore sanity in Congress.
