GLBT Caucus gives candidate blessings

The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender Caucus of the Democratic Party of Hawaii has endorsed state Sens. Roz Baker and J. Kalani English and South Maui House candidate Kaniela Ing in Maui County legislative races in the general election.

Baker is the incumbent in the 6th District (South and West Maui) race against Republican Bart Mulvihill.

English is unopposed in the 7th District (East and Upcountry Maui, Molokai and Lanai) Senate race.

Ing is seeking the 11th District (South Maui) House seat. He faces incumbent Republican George Fontaine.

The group also endorsed the Barack Obama ticket for president, Mazie Hirono for U.S. Senate and Tulsi Gabbard for the U.S. House's 2nd Congressional District that includes Maui County.

"We here at the GLBT Caucus could not be more proud and supportive of these candidates," said Michael Golojuch Jr., chairman of the GLBT Caucus. "They represent Hawaii's diverse makeup, and they all support justice for Hawaii's (GLBT) community."
